Shoot 1 - Work Diary:

Shoot 1 - Work Diary:

In today's shoot I decided to shoot on location in London. My aim for this shoot was to go around London and show the different landmarks in London. This shoot was a success as I travel all around London and captured many of the famous landmarks of London. I was very happy with the images that were produced, throughout the shoot I was considering a range of different compositions to show different places in different ways. For the editing of these images, I kept it simple and decided to mainly stick to adjusting the level curves and sometimes the saturation.

Progression:

If I was to conduct a shoot like this again I would again think about my composition and would use different filters such as black and white. I think that by doing this I would be able to create a similar shoot but with a different concept. This shoot has also given me inspiration for other London based shoots such as showing a journey through London but this time through signs, as well as being around train stations and attempting to photograph the different journeys arriving and departing.

This image above is an example of my work from this shoot. Here the composition gives an interesting way of looking at the London eye. By choosing to have this image focus purely on the London eye there was many different approaches that I could have taken. For this image I could have decided to take the image a lot closer to the eye itself and have the eye take up the majority of the frame. However by deciding to take the image with the eye as just one aspect of the image it allows for the image to look more natural and realistic. Here the eye is surrounded by many other buildings which adds more shadows to the image. Another interesting aspect of the image is the sky, in this image there is a contrast of colours with the top of the image a lot darker to the middle where a lighter blue is clearer. This contrast again adds a natural aspect to the image as the sky remains unedited.

This second image is another example of my work from this shoot. Again composition was key for this image. The side on angle allows for more of the bridge to be included in the photo. The image is still able to include small amounts of detail. The river being included into the image shows an aspect of everyday London life as is shows boats going up and down the river. The colours of the sky in this image show  a contrast of grey and white adding shadows to the bridge and the overall image.

  1. Molly this is a good post although I would ask that you look at including the camera settings and using more photographic terminologies.. Please be aware that your posts should be called Work records and comply with the following

Work Records - Shoot No 1…. Shoot No 2…. Shoot No 3…. Shoot No 4…. Shoot No 5…. Shoot No 6…. Shoot No 7…. Shoot No 8…. Shoot No 9…. Shoot No 10….

There are notes within the Qube

Work Record your Plans for the shoot, What you hope to achieve. NB (those first two sections should be written before the shoot in order to help you clarify your ideas and to ensure you have all that you need). This is followed up by What I actually achieved (with two evaluated pictures - equivalent to the evaluation section of a work diary) In this section you must record how you took the photograph in terms of camera settings and the visual outcome (did you achieve the type of photographs you wanted, what are the denotations and possible connotations associated with the images) What I am doing to do next (this might mean something that occurred whilst doing that shoot that you want to develop or maybe even a change in direction, etc).
