DEFINITION POST - THE JOURNEY:

Dictionary definition: An act of travelling from one place to another.

Describing words: Tavel, voyage, trek, experience, changes, movement, excursion, expedition.

The image above is an example of journey photography. A journey can be something as simple as just taking a walk. One way of showing this could be the shoes that you wear. In this image the photograph of the boots represents the journey as these are what you wear when taking part in that journey. These boots can be seen as what carry you through your journey even if it was just a walk to the shop and this is still a journey. The way that this photograph has been taken suggests that these boots have been worn a few times as they have a dirty and rugged look to them. This can suggest that they have gone on may journeys. 

This image is another example of a physical journey. The photograph of the car details shows you that a journey is taken place. This can symbolise moving forward in life or starting a new journey. The composition of this images has meant that you can see it the side mirror of the car. By doing so it can be suggested that this image is also a way of looking back on life and looking at previous journeys that have been taken. 

This image suggests the journey of a family. It could be taken simply as if the family were on a holiday and decided to document it so that they could look back on this point later in time. It could also begin an idea of re-creating the image in different locations this would show the family going on different journeys and choosing to document it to show one long journey.  

This image portrays the idea of journey through generations. In the image there is 4 generations of mothers and daughters. This idea again suggests the journey of a family and how the family grows over time. This could again be a documentary based idea where you could start off with one generation and add each on as the photos develop representing how the family develops. 

Real example: A real example of a journey is the trip from one location to the next, i.e the bus ride from your home to your school. 

My definition: A journey is how you end up in a new place. This can be in a literal way as you travel from one place to another, or it could be interpreted in terms of life as to end up at the point you are in your life you have gone through a journey full of decisions and obstacles.
