DISCUSSION FOR MY CHOSEN TOPIC - THE JOURNEY:

The topic that I have chosen for unit 4 is the journey, as I feel that I would be able to evidence a range of different ideas and develop and demonstrate my skills in photography. Initially when I first thought about the idea of the journey I was thinking about taking it literally and showing journeys to and from different places, this is an idea that I think I will do but I will try to think of a way that makes the idea more original and personal to me. Within the same sort of idea I am going to look at other people going on journey's, this could be through goodbyes and hello's, or departures at a train station. The overall concept will be to try and capture people taking journey's in their lives that can lead to different chapters. This image is a good example to evidence what I would be trying to achieve as it shows number of journeys that are going to take place however it does not give a personal story.

After taking some more time to really think about the topic I have thought of a number of different ideas that I think I will use in my project. One of these ideas, and a personal favourite of mine is to look at the journey of life. The simple way that I could do so would be to look at baby photos and show a life moving forward in photographs. Related to the same idea I think that it could be interesting to attempt to re-create some old photos to try and see what has changed and what has stayed the same. Here the journey could be the journey of time and how fast things can change. This image is an example of what I could attempt to achieve, here is an opportunity for me to develop my photoshop skills and try some interesting techniques.

Also coming from the idea of the journey of life I could show the journey in someones life but through buildings. I would start off at a maternity ward and end up in a cemetery, showing all the in-betweens such as school university and the work place. In these pictures I will not have any human presence and just let the buildings tell the story of somebodies life. I think that this could be a interesting outside approach to look at how your life is one long journey.
